13 Ways to Stay Positive

Here are 13 Ways To Stay Positive In This Beautiful World…

Note: Only a few of these actually have to do with the other people.

That’s because happiness starts with YOU--this goes for holiday time., and ALL OF THE TIME, as we walk into 2020.

1. Create Your Own Happiness

True happiness is not based on the external circumstances and so negative people in your life don’t have to determine how you feel.

The best way to handle them is to simply look within. Their issues are their issues, not yours. Find sources of positive energy from inside yourself.

2. Utilize Positive Thinking
If you think positively, it really helps. Your thoughts affect your actions in many ways. Positive affirmations can help. Finding the silver lining can help too so you can always stay positive.

3. Believe In Yourself

Negativity from others can really get to you after a while. As long as you believe in yourself, however, you can plow through whatever comes your way. Believing in yourself is the most important thing to staying positive!

4. Cut Off Negative People

Our surroundings have a great impact on us and this includes the people we are surrounded with. It has been said that you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Spend time with people who bring out the best in you and cut off the negative ones to the greatest extent you can. If you hang with people who are constantly naysaying, you will have a hard time removing the negativity from your life--even if that means avoiding going somewhere for the holidays. Is it worth the stress?

5. Exercise Can Make You Feel Great

If you want to feel good, you need to put your body on the right path. It’s easy to be negative if you don’t feel well. Exercise gets the endorphins flowing and can ensure your body is getting what it needs. Because working out raises serotonin levels in the brain, it’s the best way to feel amazing regardless of how those around you make you feel.

6. Spend Time In The Great Outdoors

Nature has a healing effect on the mind and body. People will tend to be more positive when they get plenty of fresh air. There are so many beautiful things on this planet to admire; it’s a fantastic way to recharge your batteries so you can stay positive a lot more. This holiday? Get outside! Nature walks, ice skating, building a snowman--so many things to do as a family!

7. Don’t Overspend

It is Christmas! But, really think about this one. Negative people often overspend trying to make themselves happy, or gift people happiness. It’s a very unhealthy habit that many utilize to try to thwart the inner pain. It’s okay once in a while to buy yourself something nice on a splurge, but making it a regular habit can cut finances short and make matters worse. Food for thought as you plan for 2020!

8. Embrace Failure and Move On

You can’t always win at everything you do. A positive person tends to use their failures as a way to learn and grow. If you fall down 100 times, as long as you get up 101 you’re doing okay. Failure can bring on a whole lot of negative emotions, but the positive learn how to see the good in every situation.

9. Learn To Own Your Mistakes

Taking responsibility for the bad that happens in your life is a way to own your mistakes. Regardless of whether it is a success or a failure, you need to take the heat for the bad and never play the blame game.

10. Make Time For Relaxation

Don’t expect yourself to be perfect. The optimistic person realizes that sometimes you have to slow down or loosen up your ambitions a bit. To avoid burn out, you may have to reduce your goals to ward off any unnecessary negative energy.

11. Find A Solution

Life can be hard and it can knock you to rock bottom. However, find a solution to the problem and don’t dwell on the failure. There are always obstacles to overcome. Positive people get up from rock bottom and come back stronger and more determined.

12. Know When To Say No

People love to ask for favors, especially to those who are always willing to help out. Learning how to say “no” can save you a lot of problems. The word “no” gives you more power over your life and your time.

13. You Don’t Have to Seek Approval
If you are a people-pleaser, you will be in for a hard time with lots of emotions. You can never please all of the people all of the time. Just stay positive because the truth is you don’t need validation and learning to not seek approval can be really helpful in finding your own happiness.

I hope you consider these tips and start to implement some or all as we creep closer to the new year!
